It uses oil but not much. I use only a tablespoon.

Yes, there is nothing on the stand that makes it actually work. It could come off and still work fine.

yes you can but because it is glass windows I do not. I just take the washcloth or paper towels and wipe it clean and the canister I will take out every once in awhile but mostly I just wait till it cools and wipe the excess oil out .

They make a table top one if that is what you are looking for. It does the same amount, but cost less.

Yes, easily. And it actually arrives, as 4 major pieces, the machine, the storage container, the bottom of the storage container, and the legs and wheels, that require assembling (comes with screw, nuts, bolts, washers, locking washers, the tools for assembly, and the instructions). The machine is R2G :-).

This machine is does not use a packet of popcorn. You use oil and kernals much like would be done in a movie theater. You will using a measuring scoop which is included with the machine to get level scoop of popcorn to place in the popping mechanism along with the oil.

They don't give you a size of packet, it comes with a scoop that you are to fill.

Regardless of the popcorn package you purchase, per the instructions, you only pour 2oz of popcorn seeds each time you pop popcorn; the 2oz is the size of the spoon that is provided with the machine; the same instructions is used for the oil too. Using too much oil and popcorn will cause the popcorn/unit to burn.

Have only used 4 oz and all kernels do not pop so I have been skeptical to try more than 4 oz

Huh?! You don't put a packet in it. It is a REAL popcorn maker. You put a little oil in the kettle (the silver one hanging inside the clear container), then you put popcorn kernels in that. As the kernels pop, they come up out of the kettle and fall to the bottom of the clear container.

I bought the kit and the machine comes with it's serving portion spoons so you don't make any mistakes.

The only thing i would change is for it to have an option to make more popcorn at one time when you have company. Other than that its the perfect amount. We love it.

I had seen one of these in a store previously, so I knew what I was getting in terms of the materials and construction. This is not a commercial unit and if you treat it rough then you may have a problem. The popcorn, however, is very good; we have been experimenting beyond the instructions and found that if you add butter flavored oil, using more than recommended is how to get a buttery taste. Another thing we learned from my son, who works at a theater, is to buy Flavacol which is a fine salt with yellow coloring that you add directly to the kettle. THAT is how you get the true movie theater flavor. We like it a lot. Also, be aware that you must shut it off when you think it is done popping (just as if you were using the microwave).

Great product

I bought this for my husband for Christmas because we host a lot of gatherings and he has had a ball with it. It's really cute, fun to use and popcorn tastes great. It's a hit!

On a side note, he may be putting too many kernals in, but I've noticed that there are several unpopped kernals. But, it's still fun.

Cute Popcorn Maker

I got this product on sale during Cyber week for $79, normal price $119, so a great deal for me, had I bought it at regular price though, I would be a bit upset. My husband and I put it together (we expected it would require assembly), which only consisted of assembling the legs, wheels, etc.; the actual maker part, and storage container comes pre-assembled. But then the last step of assembly is putting a little black handle on the clear door where the popcorn rests as it comes out of the kettle. THAT was a task! There is a handle, 2 TINY screws and a magnet that looks like a watch battery. You are just supposed to magically hold the magnet in place between the door and handle while your husband tries to insert the tiny screws into the handle from the other side of the door. This sounds easy in theory, it isn't though, the magnet keeps wanting to fall and cling to the screws before everything is flush. We ended up making the hole for the bottom screw larger (i.e. BROKE IT A LITTLE), but luckily my husband found a screw tail that tiny with a head larger than the hole we created, and VOILA! Glad that's done! It really is an awesome product though, I just wish they could have put that handle on before shipping. My 7 y/o niece has had a page in a Fingerhut magazine folded over all year, that no one is allowed to touch, yet the popcorn maker hasn't been mentioned as a Christmas gift this season, she is going to be BLOWN AWAY on Christmas, this aunt and uncle will be the cream of the crop!

Requires Assembly

Kind of hard to follow instructions for putting it together, but once it's all in place, pops corn fairly evenly. Noticing some of the other comments about a lot of kernels not popping, I can tell you from my own experience, that you have to make sure the 2 screws that attach the handle and cooker to the top of the machine are tight or the handle won't turn and you'll have burnt corn and a lot of unpopped kernels. Once I figured out that part, most kernels popped fine.

Only problem here is there is no warmer to keep popcorn hot. Other than that, it works fine, and it looks very cool and fun.

Fun way to keep the popcorn flowing

hard to put oil in small area of cooker with out spilling and making a mess. Just to small for adult to use without being messy. Small cooking pot blows out kernels before they pop. A lot of them!!! Every three batches you have enough kernels to make another batch. And that is with preheating and following all directions. But does pop corn.

To small for adult hands

Before I decided to purchase the Nostalgia Old Fashioned Movie Time Popcorn Cart I read all the reviews, since they stated all the popcorn kernels got popped & the popcorn was hot just like the movie theater I decided yes I want one. Unfortunately mine doesn't pop all the kernels & it is not hot. The first time I used it was when my grandchildren were here for our family Christmas....it took a long time before it started to pop, then a bunch of kernels came out then popcorn. The kettle does not empty all the popcorn out so this causes some to burn in the bottom of the kettle. I am not very happy with paying $80 for something that does not work as well as the reviews stated.

Reviews were my reason for purchasing.

When it starts to pop you lose alot un-popped kernals. You have to run it 2-3 times to have enough pop corn to serve a party of 2. Very noisy to have in the movie room
